m. Running the Oil Burner

n. Check for Leaks

While the oil burner is running, carefully check to ensure that changing the oil filter has not caused a leak into the system. In particular, you will want to check the connection threads, the bleed screw, the oil filter housing, and the fittings around the filter. o. Dispose of Used Oil Filter and Oil

If the oil contains any residue or sludge, discard it.
